Silas Buchanan is a passionate leader with a strong dedication to building partnerships and crafting solutions that leverage health information technology (HIT) to improve health outcomes and reduce health disparities. He is responsible for defining the Institute for eHealth Equity’s strategy for educating rural and underserved communities and communities of color about the benefits of adopting and utilizing HIT. He closely collaborates with public and private stakeholders to identify actionable ehealth equity improvement opportunities that support sustainable broadband adoption and digital inclusion efforts for underserved populations.

Mr. Buchanan has a solid background in building collectively beneficial coalitions among seemingly disparate organizations. He is effective in cultivating new markets and defining value propositions for public/private stakeholders around those markets. He brings specific expertise in brand marketing, audience/circulation growth, product development, business planning, resource planning, content development, programming, and product delivery.

Mr. Buchanan has testified before the HHS HIT Policy Committee, Meaningful Use Workgroup. He was selected as a member of the White House Summit to Achieve eHealth Equity and Region V of the National Partnership for Action to End Health Disparities. He also served as an inaugural member of the National eHealth Collaborative Consumer Committee. He currently serves as a member of both the Ohio Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative and the Ohio State Health Disparities Collaborative.
