Sheryl Weir serves as the Health Disparities Reduction and Minority Health Section Manager for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Policy, Planning and Legislative Services. In this position, she directs efforts to improve health equity for populations of color and tribal populations in Michigan. Her specific role includes improving available data, implementing programs, and advancing policy efforts to address social determinants of health that contribute to racial/ethnic health inequities.

Ms. Weir’s public health career includes strong collaborations with public, private, and nonprofit sectors. She has a solid history of focusing on a broad range of public health issues, such as health education, health equity, health disparities reduction, and social justice with a particular focus on populations of color. She received a BA from Michigan State University and an MPH from the University of Michigan.
